Baton Rouge airport’s nonstop D.C. flights may be pulled | News

The Baton Rouge airport as a whole maintains about an 83% load factor across all flights and was named the 2023 Commercial Service Airport of the Year by Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development on Tuesday. Edwards said the airport supports over 4,500 jobs and generates $1.1 billion in economic output.

American Airlines introduced several D.C. flights across the country at the time of Baton Rouge’s launch, including Madison, Wisconsin and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Pam Hinman, director of marketing and communications for the Eastern Iowa Airport, said currently two flights a day are going from Cedar Rapids to Washington, D.C.

American launched the service in June, then started a second daily flight in September — Hinman said that service is “somewhat seasonal” and will be dropping back to one flight a day.
