BREAKING: Man rushed to hospital after being stabbed in chest with teen arrested

A man was rushed to hospital after being stabbed in the chest in Bury.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the incident on Dumers Lane at around 9.50pm last night (Monday) to ‘reports of concern for the welfare of a man’. Greater Manchester Police said a 30-year-old man had been stabbed in his chest.




He was taken to hospital by paramedics. He remains there in a ‘stable condition’.

A police chase then followed and a 19-year-old man was arrested. Police said he was arrested on suspicion of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm

He remains in custody to be quizzed by detectives. Last night, a cordon was put in place on a stretch of Dumers Lane as emergency services responded.

Forensic officers were spotted carrying out investigations on the scene. The road was shut for several hours, before it was reopened at around 7.30am today.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: “At around 9.50pm yesterday evening (Monday 21 August 2023), officers were called to reports of concerns for welfare of a man on Dumers Lane off the junction of Riverside Road.

“It was later established that a 30-year-old man had been stabbed in the chest. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

“After a short pursuit, officers managed to apprehend a 19-year-old man who was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He remains in police custody for questioning.

“Enquiries are ongoing at this stage.”
