Breaking News LIVE: ‘If you do not, we will’ – SC on women’s permanent commissioning in Indian Coast Guard

In a hearing on Monday, the apex court told the government to look into the permanent commissioning of women in the Indian Coast Guard. According to the Bar & Bench, CJI DY Chandrachud said that women can’t be left out. In 2024, the norms don’t ‘hold water’. “If you do not do it, we will do it. So take a look at that,” the Chief Justice said. The remark came while hearing the case of an Indian Coast Guard woman officer, who is seeking permanent commission to eligible women short-service commission officers of the force.
