Complete computer model of the ear simulates every aspect of hearing

Encompassing all features from the outer ear to the auditory nerve, a comprehensive computer model of the ear has been built that may be used to simulate hearing in mammals, including humans.

The human hearing system is a complex and intricate sensory mechanism that enables us to perceive and interpret sound. This system involves several intricate anatomical structures and physiological processes working together.

A crazy endeavour

The new model reconstructs this system to not only aid future study into the human ear, but to also help to refine and better calibrate compensating equipment for persons with hearing loss.

The man behind this development is Pavel Jungwirth from the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences. He said that he was inspired to create the model by his youngest child.
