Delhi: Delhi residents and commuters are advised to plan their travel arrangements as the city prepares for the Tazia procession and Chehallum event on 23rd September 2023. The procession will commence at 8:30 a.m. from Pahadi Bhojla, Delhi, and follow a designated route towards Dargah Shah-e-Mardan and Bazaar Chitli Tomb.

The procession route includes various key locations such as Bazaar Chitlikawar, Bazaar Matiyamahal, Chowk Jama Masjid , Chowk Hojkaji, Ajmeri Gate , Paharganj Bridge , Chelmsford Tod, New Delhi Railway Station, Connaught Place , and Jot Bagh Road. The organizers aim to bury the Tazia at Karbala, Jor Bagh, New Delhi.

To ensure the smooth management of traffic, several roads will be regulated starting from 8:30 a.m. on 23rd September 2023. Traffic movement will be regularized on roads such as Jama Masjid Road/Chawri Bazar Road, Ajmeri Gate Tod, Asaf Ali Road, Qutub Tod, and Outer Circuit Connaught Place. Motorists should expect diversions at various points, including Brijmohan Chowk, Hoikaji Chowk, R/A Jhandewalan, and R/A Teenmurthy.

Commuters heading to New Delhi Railway Station are advised to avoid Connaught Place and Ajmeri Gate. Alternative routes include Tilak Marg, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, Rajghat, and Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg. It is recommended to allow extra travel time and plan journeys accordingly.

Bus services may also be affected, with possible terminations or delays due to the procession. The procession is expected to cause slow and congested traffic along the designated route and surrounding areas. To minimize disruptions, metro services are highly recommended, particularly for individuals traveling along the affected routes.
