Delhi News Live Updates Today (October 9): Delhi HC will today hear NewsClick Editor in Chief Prabir Purkayastha and HR head Amit Chakravarty’s pleas challenging their arrest, remand and the first information report (FIR) lodged against them in a case under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). On October 4, Purkayastha and Chakravarty were remanded to seven-day police custody. Both were arrested following allegations that the news portal was given money to spread pro-China propaganda.
Meanwhile, commuters in Noida and Greater Noida might face traffic diversions today as Dalit Prerna Sthal in Sector 95 hosts an event to mark the ‘Parinirvan Diwas’ of Dalit icon and founder of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Kanshi Ram. Vehicles coming from Greater Noida towards Noida on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway will be diverted from Mahamaya Flyover towards Sector 37. The commuters will be able to reach their destination from Sector 37 via Atta Chowk, Rajnigandha Chowk and Sector 15 Golchakkar Chowk, the police added.

After a few women students from a Delhi University college Friday alleged that they were secretly filmed while they were changing inside a washroom at IIT-Delhi, police have arrested a 20-year-old contractual sweeper in the case. One of the students posted on X (formerly Twitter) and alleged, “On 6.10.23, (our society) participated in a fashion show at IIT-Delhi and faced a really traumatic experience. A housekeeper recorded alleged videos while some girls were changing in the washroom. Shame! No action has been taken yet.”
