COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Texas A&M fired coach Jimbo Fisher on Sunday, a move that will cost the school $75 million. The move ends a tenure that began six years ago with the Aggies presenting him an engraved national championship trophy missing only the year. Fisher was lured away from Florida State, where he had won a national championship in 2013, by a massive 10-year, fully guaranteed contract at the end of the 2017 season. The deal was extended back to 10 years after the 2020 season.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe has regained his starting spot and put together a string of impressive efforts to answer the critics. Benched after losing to Texas and scrutinized at times since then, the past two weeks in particular have shown how much the sophomore has progressed for No. 8 Alabama. Milroe has 644 yards of offense and 10 touchdowns in that span, including six scores in Saturday’s 49-21 rout of Kentucky. Milroe has led Alabama to another West Division title, an achievement that looked shaky after that 34-24 loss to the Longhorns in September.

UNDATED (AP) — Georgia extended its streak of weeks being top-ranked in the AP Top 25 to 22, giving the Bulldogs the second-longest run of being No. 1 in the history of the college football poll. The Bulldogs received 54 first-place votes. Georgia broke a tie with Miami, which made 21 straight appearances at No. 1 from 2001-02. The longest No. 1 streak belongs to Southern California. The Trojans spent 33 straight polls at No. 1 from 2003-2005. The entire top eight of this week’s Top 25 remained unchanged, with No. 2 Michigan receiving seven first-place votes and No. 3 Ohio State getting one. Louisville and Oregon State entered the top 10.

BATON ROUGE (AP) — Sophomore forward Sa’Myah Smith had 21 points and 11 rebounds, freshman guard Mikaylah Williams scored a career-high 20 and No. 1 LSU hammered Mississippi Valley State 109-47 on Sunday. Returning first-team All-America forward Angel Reese had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Annesah Morrow contributed 14 points and Hailey Van Lith scored 11 for the defending national champion Tigers. Guard Sh’Diamond McKnight led MVSU with 21 points.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Chloe Kitts had career highs of 13 points and 10 rebounds and helped fuel a game-changing, 17-4 burst right before halftime as No. 6 South Carolina ran past No. 14 Maryland 114-76 on Sunday. Kitts was a little-used freshman who joined the program at midseason last year. Gamecocks sophomore Ashlyn Watkins had 13 points, 11 rebounds and five of the team’s 11 blocks. Te-Hina Paopao, an Oregon transfer, had 14 points. Shyanne Sellers led the Terps with 21 points. Maryland had not given up 100 points in almost 21 years.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Jerkaila Jordan scored 16 points to lead five in double figures and No. 25 Mississippi State dominated the second half to defeat Jacksonville State 84-45. The Bulldogs led by only 12 points at halftime but scored the first 16 points of the second half. They scored 30 points in the third quarter, led by Jessika Carter with 12. The Bulldogs made 11 of 15 shots in the period and continued the onslaught in the fourth quarter, opening with a 17-3 run and making 8 of 11 shots in the period. Carter finished with 14 points, as did Mjracle Sheppard. Erynn Barnum added 10 points with eight rebounds and Darrione Rogers also scored 10.
