Hyderabad: Heavy Rain Leads To Waterlogging, Traffic Snarls; Check Forecast

​District Collector Anudeep Durishetty has issued a notice stating that all educational institutions in Hyderabad will remain closed today. Torrential rains lashed the city on Tuesday morning flooding roads and leading to severe waterlogging in many areas which in turn led to traffic congestion.

Hyderabad : The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in Hyderabad for Tuesday warning of very heavy rainfall in the city. Torrential rains lashed the city on Tuesday morning flooding roads and leading to severe waterlogging in many areas which in turn led to traffic congestion. According to forecasts from the meteorological department, rain is likely to persist throughout the day in varied intensities.
All educational institutions in the city including schools have been closed in wake of the heavy downpour witnessed on Tuesday. For the upcoming few hours, the commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has urged residents to stay inside unless absolutely necessary.

Helpline number for citizens

A helpline number has been provided for citizens in need of support. It stated in post on X, “Please don’t step out of your home unless it’s very essential for the next few hours. Our teams comprising of more than 3000 are on field clearing water logging all over the city. Citizens may call 040-21111111 or 9000113667 for GHMC-DRF assistance.”

Orange and yellow alert issued in various regions of Telangana

Additionally, an orange alert has been issued in various districts of the state, and the Hyderabad Met Department has predicted that light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers are highly likely to occur at most locations over Telangana today.

As per Met department, a yellow alert for heavy rains has been issued in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajigiri,Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar districts of Telangana.
