A body has been found during a large-scale search for a woman who was reported missing from her home in Carmarthenshire on Sunday, November 26, it has been confirmed.

A search of a the River Cothi in the Pontargothi and Nantgaredig areas was launched on Sunday afternoon after 55-year-old Angharad was reported missing. Rescue teams including fire crews, police officers and mountain rescue teams have been present since then, with a police helicopter also deployed.

After being suspended on Tuesday evening, the search resumed on Wednesday morning and a body was found on Wednesday afternoon, November 29.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We can confirm that a body has been found this afternoon, Wednesday, November 29, during the search for Angharad, who had been reported missing. Formal identification has not yet taken place, however Angharad’s family has been informed of this development. Our thoughts remain with the family at this difficult time.”
