Giants safety Xavier McKinney said everything is good with defensive coordinator Wink Martindale after comments following Sunday’s 30-6 loss to the Raiders seemed to indicate otherwise.

“We met,” McKinney said Tuesday. “We’re gonna keep pushing. We got on the same page. We’re keeping everything in house and we’re on good terms. So you know, everything is good. Like I said, we’re just gonna keep working. Keep trying to figure out how we can be able to string these wins together and that’s really all that matters at the end of the day. But everything is good.”

McKinney, one of the Giants’ 10 captains, expressed frustration with the team’s latest loss in a 2-7 season. Quarterback Daniel Jones also tore his ACL in the defeat, leaving the Giants in a precarious position with eight remaining games. The Giants defense faced a team that fired its head coach, general manager and offensive coordinator just days before the matchup.

“Honestly, it sucks,” McKinney told ESPN on Sunday. “But, I don’t know, man. I don’t really have many words. I think that from a leadership standpoint, I don’t think they’ve done a great job of letting the leaders lead, and listening to the leaders and the captains,” said McKinney. “But obviously it sucks losing.”

Speaking at a Thanksgiving charity event in Lodi, New Jersey, where he partnered with the American Eagle Food Pantry of NNJ, McKinney spoke of the importance of giving back and addressed his Sunday remarks. The safety wants to remain in New York, saying “it’s not true” he’s frustrated and would be looking for other opportunities. He’ll be a free agent this upcoming offseason.

“I would say that I love being here,” McKinney said. “I love this team. I love this organization. Obviously, they are the organization that gave me a chance in the first place. They’re the ones that drafted me and made my dreams come true. So it’s a place where my heart lays here. I felt home for the time that I’ve been here and I would love to continue being here.”
