Nuggets’ Aaron Gordon out indefinitely after dog bites to face, hand

Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon will miss time after suffering injuries to his hand and face from a dog bite on Christmas.

Gordon required 21 stitches to the lacerations on his face and right hand — his shooting hand — following the dog bite, league sources said.

Gordon is “in good condition” and will be away from the team while recovering, the Nuggets said Wednesday. They provided no timetable for his return.

He has averaged 13.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 28 games this season with the reigning champion Nuggets.

Gordon missed four games in late November and early December with a heel strain. The 28-year-old played through the heel pain, and when he returned on Dec. 2. against the Sacramento Kings, he said after the game that walking felt like “stepping on a stone.”

The Nuggets are 22-10 and sit second in the Western Conference. The team had Tuesday off and held practice Wednesday at Ball Arena ahead of a Thursday home game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
