The DM and SSP Rajeev Mishra inspected 40 ghats between Gai ghat and Deedarganj for reviewing the preparations for Chhath.
Chandrashekhar ordered the officials to complete the works like barricading, lighting, toilets, changing rooms, approach roads, public address system, CCTV cameras and others before November 17, the first day of the four-day festival beginning with ‘Nahay Khaye’.
Initially, the district administration identified 108 ghats along the Ganga from Danapur to Patna City but later declared eight of them as unsafe for Chhath. “The overall status of all ghats is better this time than the last year mainly due to low level of the river water, which enabled us in preparing wider spaces for the convenience of devotees,” he said.
After sighting some obstructions on the approach road from Ashok Rajpath to Kangan ghat and at Quila ghat as well as Adrak ghat, the DM ordered the municipal corporation to immediately remove them and make the passage clean for the devotees.
The main ghats in that stretch are Karnal ghat, Gai ghat, Kantahi Bhadra, Mahaveer, Nausar, Colony, Sidhi, Adarsh, Mittan, Sita, Khajekalla, Tedhi, Keshav Rai, Mirchai and Guru Gobind Singh College among others.

Khandepar bridge to get approach road 5 years after opening
Construction has finally begun on the pending approach road to the Khandepar bridge in Ponda, Goa, almost five years after its inauguration. The delay was due to legal matters surrounding a house that was in the middle of the proposed road, but the land has now been acquired. The project has been sanctioned and a tender worth Rs 97 crore was awarded to M Venkata Rao Infra Projects Pvt Ltd. The contractor has been given 18 months to complete the work, which includes the construction of the approach road and other pending works.
