Thanksgiving is just around the corner, but today’s weather in some parts of the region could make it feel a lot more like Christmas.
“We should expect some rain during the course of the afternoon and it won’t be totally shocking to see a few sleet pellets mixing in when it first arrives,” said Accuweather meteorologist Tom Kines. “But for your neck of the woods, it won’t be much to worry about.”
Those thinking about traveling in the Poconos or the northern tier of Pennsylvania, however, should take heed.
“When you get up into those areas, you might see some slippery roads in the afternoon due to a mix of sleet and snow,” Kines said. “Anyone heading in that direction should keep an eye out.”
By this evening, any precipitation that falls will be rain, thanks to above freezing temperatures. And by early Wednesday morning, dry conditions return, Kines said.
“The sun will come back and after that, it looks like smooth sailing,” into the Thanksgiving holiday and weekend, he noted.
Thursday’s high temperature will hover near or above the 50-degree mark, and it will be sunny.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday see highs in the 40s.
“It looks like it will be mainly dry,” Kines said. “There may be some point over the weekend where there will be a shower.”
