Travel Weekly wins two awards for journalism excellence: Travel Weekly

NEW YORK — Travel Weekly was the recipient of two Eddie awards for excellence in journalism by Folio, a media company that covers the publishing industry.

The publication was awarded best series in the business-to-business, travel and transport category for its two-part cover story “The state of accessible travel,” which looked at whether, and how, travel companies and industry sectors were improving the travel experience for disabled travelers. The report was a collaborative effort between staff editors Jamie Biesiada, Andrea Zelinski, Nicole Edenedo, Christina Jelski, Robert Silk and Johanna Jainchill.

Editor in chief Arnie Weissmann also won an Eddie, for his Feb. 22 “From the Window Seat” column “When racism sails, bad behavior ensues,” in the column/blog category for business-to-business, travel and transport.

The podcast Trade Secrets, a joint production of Travel Weekly and sister publication TravelAge West was an Eddies finalist in the best travel and leisure podcast category, competing against both consumer and trade media.

The Eddie and Ozzie awards were presented by Folio at a gala dinner in New York on Oct. 24. Eddie awards recognize excellence in editorial work and journalism; Ozzies are given for excellence in design.
