Valley’s Green Business Network hosts lunch-and-learn Jan. 23

Business representatives are invited to attend a free luncheon workshop presented by the Colorado Green Business Network of the Yampa Valley at noon Jan. 23 to learn how businesses can play a role in climate action while gaining economic and environmental benefits.

The free lunch-and-learn is presented by nonprofit Yampa Valley Sustainability Council and the Steamboat Springs Chamber with lunch provided courtesy of Wild Plum Market.

The workshop goals include understanding the role the network can play in connecting businesses with state resources and increasing connections to the business community to identify opportunities and challenges.

The network launched in summer 2022 as a free, technical assistance and environmental recognition program and a regional partner of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Green Business Network. The program works to connect businesses that want to distinguish their processes and products by environmental and sustainability performance with technical resources while utilizing tracking platforms.

“Consumers are seeking out green practices, and we need emissions reductions to fight climate change,” according to event organizers, noting that 12 area businesses have already signed up for the program.

The Jan. 23 lunch workshop is free to the public and will take place in the Routt County Community Room in the county’s Health and Human Services building at 135 Sixth St. in downtown Steamboat Springs.
