MONROE, Wash. — On Monday, the Monroe Police Department released a warning about burglaries they’re investigating with the same M.O.: a burglar breaks into a business by busting open a window pane not connected to an alarm.
MPD Commander Paul Ryan told KING 5 it happened at a nail salon on Fryelands Boulevard and a Subway on Highway 2.
While the video shows the moments the thief breaks in, Monroe police did not share any identifying information about the burglar or what they stole.

Monroe police released video showing a thief breaking into a nail salon by busting a window that isn’t connected to an alarm system.
Stephanie Ganger, the long-time manager at Bricks & Minifigs, said the burglaries remind you to be prepared for anything.
“I have things up against the windows, so it’s not like they can break in my windows and immediately get in,” Ganger said. “When I shut everything down at night, you go outside and can still see the lights, people moving around. There are motion detectors.”
Ganger said that as a business with thousands of dollars on its shelves, you have to be proactive instead of reactive.
KING 5 reached out to the nail salon owner. Employees told us they could not talk about the situation. The owner of the Subway confirmed his business was hit, but he did not want to discuss what happened.
“I get the police blotter, so I know what happens, a lot of break-ins and stuff like that,” Ganger said. “It really sucks when you’re affected by a break-in. Your property is damaged and even if you have good insurance, you have that deductible.”
