A Winona business is in the process of laying off its workers later this year and closing its plant.

WINONA, Minn. (WXOW) – A Winona business is in the process of laying off its workers later this year and closing its plant.

The State Rapid Response Team for the Department of Employment and Economic Development received the notice from BCS Access Business Systems US on March 26.

Aaron MacLennan, the Winona Plant Manager, said in the letter to state officials that 123 hourly and salaried employees would be affected by the layoffs. They would begin in Q3/Q4 this year. No specific dates were given on when the layoffs would start.

The letter did say the layoffs would take place in phases.

The state said that some of the workers facing layoffs are members of UAW Local 958. The hourly workers have seniority rights and certain bumping rights as part of a collective bargaining agreement.

The company makes controls and interfaces for the automotive industry. Their facility is at 5727 Industrial Park Road in Winona adjacent to the airport. With the layoffs, BCS would permanently close the plant.
