Police officials claimed on Tuesday that a bag containing a computer and two USB memory sticks with police security plans for the Olympic Games in Paris was taken on Monday night from a train at the city’s Gare du Nord station.

According to the police, who were corroborated by BFM television, the bag belonged to an engineer from Paris City Hall. He said that he had placed the bag in the luggage compartment above his seat.

He chose to switch trains because his original train was running late, and that’s when he learned about the theft.

The engineer said that sensitive information, including the municipal police’s plans for securing the Olympics, was on his work computer and two USB sticks.

The regional transit police are looking into the incident.

During the Games, 2,000 local police officers will be deployed, bringing the total number of security personnel expected to be on duty daily for the Olympics—which begin on July 26—to about 35,000.
