A 4.0 magnitude earthquake hit rural Stanislaus County, according to the United States Geological Survey.The USGS website shows the earthquake happened around 5:15 p.m. about 8 miles southwest of Westley.Several areas reported feeling the quake, including Patterson, Tracy, Salida, Modesto, Escalon, Dublin, Stockton and Watsonville.
