Amazon (AMZN) partner Anthropic on Monday introduced the Claude 3 model family, the latest generation of its artificial intelligence (AI) model, which it claimed “sets new industry benchmarks across a wide range of cognitive tasks.”

Anthropic announced the latest family of AI models, which “includes three state-of-the-art models in ascending order of capability: Claude 3 Haiku, Claude 3 Sonnet, and Claude 3 Opus,” with “each successive model offer[ing] increasingly powerful performance, allowing users to select the optimal balance of intelligence, speed, and cost for their specific application.”

Anthropic claimed the Claude 3 Opus outperformed Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI’s GPT-4 and Alphabet’s (GOOGL) Google Gemini Ultra in math, knowledge, and code, among other benchmarks.

The Opus and Sonnet models are available to Claude users and the company said the Haiku model will be available soon.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced that the new Claude models will be integrated into Amazon Bedrock for its enterprise customers as a part of the ongoing partnership between Amazon and Anthropic.

The latest generation of Anthropic’s Claude model comes as Amazon, Google, and Microsoft work to solidify their positions amid the AI boom.

Their AI-related investments have also drawn scrutiny from antitrust regulators, with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) launching an inquiry into Google, Amazon, Anthropic, Microsoft, and OpenAI generative AI investments and partnerships in January.
