Kiran Rao’s directorial Laapataa Ladies opened to a warm response from cinemagoers and critics alike. The film, even before its release in India, had garnered critical acclaim from audiences abroad. The film hit the theatres on March 1 and since then, congratulatory messages have been pouring in for Kiran Rao. Joining the list of people heaping praises on the film is Anurag Kashyap who penned a lengthy note to appreciate the film, calling it a “sincere, funny, beautiful film.”

, filmmaker Anurag shared a post on his Instagram handle which he accompanied with a heartwarming note that can be read as, “What a sincere, funny, beautiful film @raodyness has made. She says so much with so much subtlety but more than that, watching such a soulful film, an incredible love story, beautiful storytelling with truth bombs dropping with such humour every ten minutes. I cried like a baby.”

Further, he acknowledged the contribution of the cast and crew as he wrote, ‘‘The truth in the eyes of the actors who I have never seen before, all fresh faces with a lifetime performance from @ravikishann , the production design, the cinematography and then the writing by @snehadesaiofficial and team. Reminded me of the honesty, sensitivity, and empathy of people in the India I grew up that now seems gone.”

As Kashyap went on to conclude, he recommended everyone to watch the film saying that it was unforgettable. He even praised the recently released Malayalam films Manjummel Boys and Bramayugam in his note.

Meanwhile, the film Laapataa Ladies has been jointly produced by Jio Studios, Kindling Pictures, and Aamir Khan Productions. The satire film features Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastav, and Ravi Kishan in prominent roles. The film, till the 5th day of its release, earned a total of Rs 4.95 crore. The storyline of the film revolves around two young brides who get swapped during a train journey.
