Arsenal news and transfers recap – Mbappe agreement, Man City points deduction, Ivan Toney deal

Arsenal hero Ray Parlour has identified one position that the club need to strengthen in the January transfer window.

The Gunners have been touted with an interest in several strikers as Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah continue to fight for the first-choice spot. Parlour believes that adding another forward is necessary if Mikel Arteta’s side wish to win the Premier League.

“The only area where I think Arsenal might be a bit thin is in terms of a central striker,” Parlour told Tipsbladet. “In my time, we always had four top-class forwards. In one season, we even had five!

“Strikers win you games. It’s as simple as that.” When you have two classic forwards up front, you always have a decent chance of scoring. Going back to my time at the club, Arsène Wenger sometimes had three forwards up front, and we knew we would eventually score with those guys up front.”

Parlour added: “If Gabriel Jesus gets injured again, or if Nketiah falls out, then they only have one true striker, which seems a bit thinly populated. It’s something Edu should look at in January, along with Mikel Arteta.”
