‘Assailants in custody’ after shots fired near Northwestern’s Chicago campus – NBC Chicago

Chicago police are investigating of shots fired near Northwestern’s downtown campus on Monday night.

According to the school, the call of shots fired came from an area near Wieboldt Hall, a campus building located across the street from the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab in the city’s Streeterville neighborhood.

In an update sent to students, faculty and media just after 9:30 p.m., officials said that the scene has been “secured” and that “assailants were in custody,” but offered no further details.

Chicago police are handling the investigation into the shooting, according to Northwestern officials. There were no immediate reports of injuries or transports by the Chicago Fire Department.
