BAFTA Confirms Matthew Perry Will Be Honoured Later

Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s title track ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ was released on Monday. The new track gives a sneak peek into their ‘bromance’. The title track, which has the hook of the title track of 1998 film ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’. The song was choreographed by Bosco-Caesar and sung by Anirudh Ravichander and Vishal Mishra. Lyrics is by Irshad Kamil.

Actress Ayesha Takia has taken a firm stance against body shaming after facing criticism from trolls following her recent public appearance, which marked her first in years. The actress was photographed at Mumbai airport by paparazzi, stirring reactions from the public.

While some comments were positive, others were insensitive, speculating about changes to her appearance and suggesting she had undergone cosmetic procedures. These hurtful remarks even extended to her private Instagram profile, prompting her to disable comments.

In response, Ayesha Takia took to social media on Sunday to address the issue. She explained that the photos were taken while she was rushing to Goa due to a family medical emergency, with her sister hospitalized. She clarified that she only briefly stopped for the paparazzi before continuing on her way.

Filmmaker Christopher Nolan, who was named as the Best Director for the film ‘Oppenheimer’ at BAFTA’s, in his acceptance speech said that while his movie has finished on a “dramatically necessary note of despair” he wanted to spotlight the organisations who have worked over the years to “reduce the number of nuclear weapons in the world”.

“In accepting this I do just want to acknowledge their efforts and point out they show the necessity and potential of efforts for peace,” he added.

The director also said that it was an “incredible honour to be back home, to get this from BAFTA, in the festival hall where my mum and dad used to drag me to make me have some culture. Some of it stuck”.

The Royal Festival Hall in London hosted the 77th British Academy Film Awards on Sunday. Actor David Tennant hosted the ceremony, during which Bollywood star Deepika Padukone presented an award in the Best Film Not in the English Language category. Poor Things and Oppenheimer were the night’s huge winners. This year, the Christopher Nolan film won up to seven accolades. Following suit with a total of five awards was Emma Stone’s Poor Things. Top honours including Best Picture, Best Director (Christopher Nolan), Best Actor (Cillian Murphy), and Best Supporting Actor (Robert Downey Jr.) were all won by Oppenheimer. 

Emma Stone, who starred in the dark comedy Poor Things, won the Best Actress prize. For her performance in the 1970s-set comedy The Holdovers, actress Da’Vine Joy Randolph won the Best Supporting Actress prize. However, neither Greta Gerwig’s Barbie nor Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon were able to win any BAFTAs this year.

Following outcry over Matthew Perry’s exclusion from the In Memoriam portion of the film awards night on Sunday evening, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has confirmed that he will be remembered at its TV awards later this year, according to Variety.

Most famous for his ten-year role as Chandler Bing on the popular television series ‘Friends’, Perry passed away in October of last year.

At its TV gala later this year, BAFTA confirmed to Variety that Perry will be honoured. “Matthew Perry will be remembered in the forthcoming BAFTA Television Awards in May,” a spokesperson said.
