New York City: Multiple explosions were heard on Roosevelt Island In New York City of the United States on Tuesday morning (local time). There are also reports that the ground shook in the early morning. An emergency response protocol was initiated by the NYC Firefighting Department.
The FDNY was called to the 580 block of Main Street at around 5:54 am on Tuesday (local time) after reports of explosions and building shaking surfaced, a fire department official told The Independent.
As per a report by abc7, the explosions caused power outage on the islands.
Firefighters are currently on the spot. However, it is stilll not clear as to what caused the explosons and grund shakes. The FDNY is reportedly investigating ‘multiple maintenance hole fires’.
