‘What Steps Have You Taken In Last 26 Days’: SC Wraps SBI Over Electoral Bonds Case

SC began hearing SBI’s plea for extension of deadline to Jun 30 to disclose details of electoral bonds encashed by political parties. SBI has to just open sealed cover, collate details and give information to Election Commission, said Supreme Court.

“In the last 26 days, what steps have you taken? Your application is silent on that,” the apex court asked SBI on electoral bonds case.

The Supreme Court is set to hear the application filed by the State Bank of India (SBI) on Monday, seeking an extension until June 30 to disclose details of each electoral bond encashed by political parties, news agency PTI reported. The hearing comes after the electoral bond scheme was scrapped last month. A five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud will also consider a separate plea, which seeks contempt action against SBI for allegedly disobeying the apex court’s direction to submit contribution details to the Election Commission by March 6, according to PTI.

PM Modi to Inaugurate Haryana Section of Dwarka Expressway

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate and lay foundation stones of 112 national highway projects across the country, worth Rs. 1 lakh crore, from an event in Gurugram today. Among these projects, PM Modi will inaugurate the Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway, aimed at improving traffic flow and easing congestion between Delhi and Gurugram on National Highway-48. The 19-km-long Haryana section of the eight-lane expressway, constructed at a cost of around Rs. 4,100 crore, will provide direct connectivity to the IGI Airport in Delhi and Gurugram Bypass.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to participate in the ‘Sashakt Nari-Viksit Bharat’ programme and witness agricultural drone demonstrations conducted by ‘Namo Drone Didis’ at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute on Monday. The initiative aims to foster economic empowerment and financial autonomy among women, especially in rural areas. PM Modi will also disburse around Rs. 8,000 crore in bank loans to self-help groups (SHGs) at subsidised interest rates through Bank Linkage Camps.

President Droupadi Murmu to Embark On 3-Day Mauritius

President Droupadi Murmu will embark on a three-day state visit to Mauritius, commencing Monday, to attend the island nation’s National Day celebrations as the chief guest. Alongside, a contingent of the Indian Navy will participate in the celebrations, accompanied by two ships — INS Tir and CGS Sarathi. President Murmu is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Mauritian leaders, including President Prithvirajsing Roopun and Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, and other important dignitaries during her visit.
