Body Of Naxal, Arms Recovered After An Encounter In Chhattisgarh: Police

SP Narayanpur Pushkar Sharma speaks on the recovery of a body of a Naxal in Chhattisgarh:

“The body of a Naxal was recovered following an encounter between Naxals and security forces under the Orchha Police Station area in the Narayanpur district. Arms and ammunition including a 315-bore rifle and a .12-bore rifle recovered from the possession of the Naxal..,” he said.

Tripura Police Recovers 1.3 Kh Heroin Hidden In Soap Cases In Agartala, 3 Held

Tripura police on Monday seized 1.3 kg heroin valued at Rs 10 crore and arrested three drug peddlers, reported ANI.

Bhanupada Chakraborty, SP, North Tripura said: “Acting on secret information, we laid a checkpoint at Churaibari in the north Tripura district and intercepted the vehicle and recovered 1.3 kg of heroin, which was kept in soap cases.”

Japan PM Calls On North Korea To Call Off Planned Satellite Launch

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has called on North Korea to halt a planned satellite launch, less than three months after a failed effort saw a military satellite plunge into the sea, reported AFP.

“I instructed (ministers) to provide information to the public, cooperate with the countries concerned and call on North Korea to cease this launch, and take all possible measures to prepare for any unforeseen eventuality,” Kishida told reporters, as per AFP.

President Murmu To Visit Goa

President Droupadi Murmu will be on a three-day visit to Goa starting Tuesday where she will attend host of events, said the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday, as per a PTI report. She will attend a civic reception, to be hosted by the Goa government in her honour at the Raj Bhavan where she will distribute ‘Sanad’ under the Forest Rights Act to select beneficiaries. She will also grace the 34th convocation of Goa University during her visit and interact with members of tribal groups in the state. She will also address the Goa Legislative Assembly at Porvorim.

Kharge To Address Public Meeting In MP

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will on Tuesday address a public meeting in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar in the Bundelkhand region. “He will reach Bhopal in the morning and then proceed to Sagar by road along with MP Congress president Kamal Nath,” MP Congress media cell chairperson KK Mishra told PTI. As per the report quoting sources, Kharge was earlier scheduled to address public meeting in Sagar on August 12 but the visit was called off. 

Islamabad High Court To Take Up Imran Khan’s Plea

The Islamabad High Court will on Tuesday take up the plea by jailed former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan against his conviction and sentence in the Toshakhana corruption case. A division bench, comprising IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, will take up Khan’s petition on Tuesday. The defence lawyers are expected to press for immediate relief in the form of suspension of the conviction until the adjudication of the petition, stated a PTI report.
