Bristol Rovers’ trip to Reading next month postponed amid international break call-ups

Bristol Rovers’ League One match away at Reading, originally scheduled to be played on September 9, has been postponed.

Reading have confirmed on their social channels that this is ‘due to international call-ups’ with the Royals stating: ‘a new date will be arranged and announced at the earliest possibility.’ The current rule in place is that a club has to have at least three players called-up to represent their national teams for a fixture to be postponed.

In regards to Rovers supporters who had already purchased tickets for the match, which stood at 1,470 tickets as of this (Wednesday) morning according to @pete_BRFC on X, the football club have confirmed that ‘refunds on tickets are available by contacting tickets@bristolrovers.co.uk’ and ‘tickets will be valid for the rearranged date once that has been confirmed.’

All Premier League and Championship clubs don’t have fixtures for that weekend given the international break, which is due to run from September 4 to 12. However, with fewer call-ups in leagues below, fixtures are still initially scheduled to run.

Although, this isn’t the first match in League One to be postponed due to call-ups with Shrewsbury Town vs Bolton Wanderers, Peterborough United vs Cheltenham Town and Derby County vs Northampton Town also called-off for the time being.

The news also means that the Gas won’t play away from home again until September 16 when they travel to Shrewsbury.
