Candace Owens out at Daily Wire after months of Israel controversy

Daily Wire chief Jeremy Boreing shared to X on Friday that the conservative news site has parted ways with its controversial political presenter Candace Owens.

“Daily Wire and Candace Owens have ended their relationship,” Boreing posted without further explanation of the split.

The move comes as Owens’ feud with Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro over Israel was escalating.

In the aftermath of Hamas’ Oct. 7 terrorist attack, Owens has emerged as an outspoken critic of Israel, most recently “liking” a post on X about a centuries-old conspiracy theory that says rabbis drink the blood of Christians, Mediaite earlier reported.

In a post on X last week, celebrity Rabbi Shmuley Boteach accused Owens of being an “arch antisemite” who “is inciting her Jew-hating followers to threaten to murder Jews and especially me.”

Boteach had been a target of a tirade from Owens in which she claimed there is a “small ring” of people in Hollywood “using the fact that they are Jewish to shield themselves from any criticism.”

Owens doubled down on the stance with a follow-up post to X earlier this month, where she wrote: “Awaken world, to the monsters who have caused immense suffering to others via slander, threats, and coercion. Rabbi Shmuley is one of these monsters and any person who defends him or his hag daughter is immediately suspicious.”

Boteach also earlier shared a direct message he received from someone who threatened: “I will catch you jew boi. Ima knock you the f–k out. Ima watch you cry like a b–ch.”

Boteach received a slew of replies mocking him for his post, including one from user @christ_gnosis that read: “It says February 20th, Rabbi. Are you drunk on Christian blood again?”

The user was referring to the DM, which was sent on Feb. 20, though Owens called out Boteach on her Daily Wire show in March.

Owens evidently found the comment particularly compelling, and gave it a like, per Mediaite.

Owens — who has also defended Kanye West’s antisemitic rants — has also condemned “political Jews,” accusing them of fueling antisemitism and being “some of the most vile, dishonest, manipulative people that I have ever met.”

“Under the guise of fighting antisemitism, they actually create it,” Owens said in a rant on her weekday talk show last month.

Shapiro has publicly bashed Owens’ commentary amid the heightened conflict between Israel and Gaza as “absolutely disgraceful.”

“I think her behavior during this has been disgraceful, without a doubt,” Shapiro added in a clip posted to social media, where he can also be heard affirming that Owens “still works at my company.”

While Shapiro is a co-founder and co-owner of the news site, he has stated in the past that he does not have the authority to fire Owens, who has hosted the Daily Wire’s “Candace Owens” talk show since 2021.

It’s far from the first time that Owens has exchanged barbs over Israel and antisemitism with Shapiro, who is Jewish and was raised in an Orthodox Jewish family.

Amid the row, the conservative group cited for helping launch Owens’ career, the David Horowitz Freedom Center, cut its years-long ties with Owens, citing her “ignorant, hateful and morally obtuse remarks about Israel and the Jews.”

The Post has sought comment from the Daily Wire and Owens.

The outlet’s decision to end its relationship with Owens came as a surprise to viewers, who displayed mixed emotions in response to the news.

While one user expressed that they “saw this coming [from] a mile away” and another said it was “better late than never,” a commenter by the name of Keith Woods called the move “disgraceful.”

“Like all establishment conservatives, your belief in free speech ends at criticism of Zionism,” Woods added. “WE STAND WITH CANDACE!”

“Did Ben give you a ‘She goes or I do’?” another questioned.
