Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC), a member of Upper Allegheny Health System (UAHS), will receive some much-needed updates to help improve the integrity and quality of the structure.
After years of being overlooked, these investments into the current facility include projects of replacing the roofing system and updating the fire alarm system.
BRMC began a roof replacement project that covers the Pavilion at BRMC which specializes in skilled-nursing care, as well as a portion of the main hospital. The project started earlier this month with an anticipated completion date by the end of October. CentiMark, a Pennsylvania based company, was brought onboard to execute the planned replacement. The total investment for this project will be $415,226 and will be funded 50 percent by the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant for qualifying purchases with the rest funded by UAHS.
“The roof replacement has been one of those high priority projects since stepping into my role as chief administrative officer at BRMC last July,” said Dave Monroe. “Carrying out this capital improvement project will not only enhance the structure of our facility, but will correct any leaks or potential leaks within the facility for years to come.”
Another investment that BRMC will undertake is an upgrade to the fire alarm system throughout the facility. Johnson Controls will replace all the fire alarm control panels, alarm initiating devices and alarm notification devices to improve the quality of the current system that is being used. The value of this upcoming venture is projected to be $324,529 which will again be supplemented by the RACP grant and UAHS. The upgrade will start in early 2024.
“Some of our facility’s structure dates back to 1951. The newest portion of our facility is the $9 million investment by the Bradford Hospital Foundation to construct the outpatient services tower which took place in 2005. These are necessary projects to not only upkeep the current structure that has been neglected but advance the safety and quality for our team members and patients,” added Monroe.
The total price tag on these capital improvements is over $700,000. With the current timeline of enhancements for the facility, BRMC is committed to providing comprehensive quality care that is close to home for not only the Bradford community, but the entire region.
