The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is preparing to reorganize the lane striping on NE 148th Avenue between NE 146th Drive and NE Halsey Street. We’re changing the number of vehicle travel lanes in each direction from two lanes to one lane on NE 148th Avenue to discourage speeding, and we’ll also construct a safer crossing and sidewalk near Margaret Scott Elementary School with trees and street lighting.
Construction Schedule
PBOT plans to complete this project in two phases:
Phase 1: Pavement Stripingwill include the lane reorganization asphalt paint work on NE 148th Avenue. Work should begin in September and take less than one week to complete. Elements of this work require dry weather, and the schedule may change.
Phase 2: Concrete will include constructing the project’s concrete elements, including the new median island crossing and sidewalk. Construction will begin after the lane reorganization pavement striping is complete.
What to expect during Phase 1: Pavement Striping
PBOT Maintenance Operations crews will use a long-line asphalt striping machine to paint the street pavement lines along NE 148th Avenue from NE Halsey Street to NE 146th Drive.
No full travel lane closures or detours will be involved in this project. However, you can expect some travel delays on NE 148th Ave between NE Halsey Street and NE 146th Drive during construction.
