1. A day before the opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games in China’s Hangzhou, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur called off his trip to the country. 

The reason? This was done as a mark of protest against China denying three athletes (all of them wushu martial arts players) from Arunachal Pradesh accreditation cards and instead offering stapled visas. As a result of this, the three could not travel for the Games.
