Dussehra 2023: Delhi traffic police issues traffic advisory on Durga immersion, Ravan Dahan. Check routes here

The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for the Durga idol immersion that is slated to take place on October 24.

This event will witness the participation of members from various Durga Puja committees and devoted followers who will gather from across the city to immerse the idols of Goddess Durga at multiple river Yamuna ghats.

As per the advisory, “The main ghats where the immersion of idols of Goddess Durga will take place are as follows. “Yamuna Ghat, Yamuna Bazar, Yamuna Ghat, Wazirabad, Yamuna Ghat, Kudesia Ghat and Geeta Ghat (near Chandgi Ram Akhara), Yamuna Ghat, ITO (Hathi Ghat) in Central Delhi. In the east district, Yamuna Ghat of Geeta Colony and Mayur Vihar.”

It further said, “The advisory read that apart from the above-mentioned ghats, immersions at small scale would also take place at Haiderpur Canal, Bawana Nahar, Bhalaswa Lake and at various other water bodies in Delhi.”


Meanwhile, Delhi traffic police said to avoid Netaji Subhash Marg, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Marg and Nishadraj Marg (New Daryaganj Road) on Tuesday from 1300 hrs to 2100 hrs due to special traffic arrangements.




Delhi is holding three grand Ramlilas organised by the Luv Kush Ram Leela Committee, Dharmik Ram Leela Committee and Nav Dharmik Ram Leela Committee. These festivities have been taking place at Madhav Das Park and 15th August Park in front of the Red Fort since October 15 and will continue till October 25, commencing at 6:00 pm daily.

Roads where traffic will be affected

From 01:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Mandir Marg, Panchkuian Road, Connaught Place Outer Circle, Minto Road, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg.

From 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM

Ring Road/Outer Ring Road from Rajghat upto Burari via ISBT, Majnu Ka Tilla, Boulevard Road, Wazirabad Road including Wazirabad Bridge, Yamuna Bridge- Vikas Marg

From 01:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Chittaranjan Park, Outer Ring Road from Chirag Delhi Flyover upto Mathura Road, Maa Anand Mai Marg, Josip Broz Tito Marg, Nehru Place

From 03:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Pushta Road Gandhi Nagar, Khajuri Pushta Road, Sonia Vihar Pushta Road, Mathura Road, G.D. Birla Marg (Road No. 13A)

Diversions

1. Commercial vehicles and buses coming from Mukarba Chowk side will not be allowed on Wazirabad bridge and will be directed towards ISBT bridge from 12:00 Noon.

2. Commercial vehicles and buses coming from trans Yamuna towards Ring Road (Wazirabad Bridge) will be diverted from Khajuri Khas Chowk towards Shastri Park on Pusta Road from 02:00 p.m.

3. Yamuna Pushta road towards Jaitpur from Kalindi Kunj would be one way. Traffic from Jaitpur side to Kalindi Kunj will be directed to Kachchi Colony Road, Agra canal.

4. On exit from Kalindi Kunj Ghat all empty vehicles will take compulsory left turn on Jaitpur Pushta and use Kachchi Colony Road on Agra canal.

Parking

Devotees must avoid parking their vehicles on the roadsides near the Ghats. Only limited parking is available near/at Ghats, at the following locations:

1. Near U-turn, Sanyas Ashram on Shahdara loop from Monastery side onwards

near ISBT.

2. Kudesia Ghat/ Geeta Ghat ISBT

3. Hathi Ghat

4. Kalindi Kunj

5. Mayur Vihar Extension Ghat
