Edinburgh Airport flights suspended for emergency runway repairs for second day

All flights into and out of Edinburgh Airport were suspended on Sunday so emergency repairs could be carried out on the runway.

It was the second day of disruption for passengers at the busy airport after Saturday’s flights were also affected by runway repair issues.

Flights were left circling the airport while others were diverted to Glasgow causing travel chaos.

A spokesperson for Edinburgh Airport confirmed this afternoon that the work had been completed.

It was also confirmed that normal service had been resumed.

The spokesperson said: “Arrivals and departures were suspended for a short period while our team carried out minor repairs on the airfield.

“This work has since been completed and operations have resumed. Safety is our priority and we thank passengers for their patience.”
