Prime Video on Tuesday announced its 2024 slate of 69 titles, including brand new shows such as Varun Dhawan’s “Citadel: Honey Bunny”, Ananya Panday’s “Call Me Bae” and Bhumi Pednekar’s “Daldal”, as well as films like Abhishek Bachchan’s “Be Happy” and Anil Kapoor’s “Subedaar”.
The slate was announced as a part of the Prime Video Presents event here that saw a galaxy of Hindi as well as South cinema stars introduce their movies and shows with filmmaker Karan Johar hosting for the majority of the evening.
The streamer unveiled a total of 27 new shows across Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages; five returning series, including new seasons of “Pataal Lok” and “Mirzapur”; eight original movies, including Boman Irani’s directorial debut “The Mehta Boys” and “Chhorii 2” with Nushrratt Bharuccha; and 29 features that will be available on Prime Video post their theatrical run.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Shahid Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Varun Dhawan, Ananya Panday, Pankaj Tripathi, Manoj Bajpyee, filmmakers Farhan Akhtar, Vikramaditya Motwane, Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, Rohit Shetty, Rana Daggubati, Suriya and many others were in attendance.
Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Deverakonda shared a heartfelt moment onstage during the recent Prime Video event in Mumbai on Tuesday. Shahid expressed his gratitude to Vijay, acknowledging the impact of his film ‘Arjun Reddy’ on the creation of ‘Kabir Singh’.
During the event, Shahid invited Vijay onto the stage, where he affectionately rested his head on Vijay’s shoulder. Shahid remarked, “I have to give him a lot of love. Naa Arjun Reddy bani hoti, naa Kabir Singh paida hota (If Arjun Reddy was not made then Kabir Singh would not be born). Thank you, Vijay!” Prime Video India shared snapshots of their interaction on their Instagram account.
Superstar Anil Kapoor and director Suresh Triveni of “Tumhari Sulu” fame are joining hands for “Subedaar”, billed as an adrenaline-fuelled action drama.
The film, written by Triveni and Prajwal Chandrashekar, was officially announced on Tuesday at the Prime Video Presents event.
According to the streamer, “Subedaar” follows Kapoor’s Arjun Singh who is grappling with civilian life, navigating a strained relationship with his daughter, and societal dysfunction.
“The man who once fought for the nation must now fight enemies within to protect his home and family,” the makers said.
Actor Varun Dhawan, who was present on stage, said he has been Kapoor’s fan since childhood.
“I’m not going to ask you any of the usual stuff like how you look young and all that. What I want to ask you is how do you switch from character to character with so much honesty,” Dhawan asked his “Jugjugg Jeeyo” co-star.
Kapoor said he is drawn to a project that is a great package.
