Europcar adds Mercedes models to EV fleet

Europcar is upgrading its fleet of electric vehicles (EVs) with the introduction of new premium Mercedes-Benz models to offer to customers in the UK.

The car rental firm is adding Mercedes EQ SUV, 4×4 and Saloon models of EVs as part of its goal of have at least 20 per cent of its vehicles emitting less than 50g CO2 per kilometre by the end of 2024.

These Mercedes EVs also feature the company’s user experience technology which includes voice, touch or gesture input controls and an AI-based infotainment system.

Mark Newberry, Europcar Mobility Group’s UK commercial director and sustainability spokesperson, said: “We now have EVs of almost every size, shape and spec on our fleet. 

“The addition of these three new models ensures we can help the widest range of drivers to choose an electric vehicle for their next rental, removing another barrier to those considering making the switch from petrol or diesel.”

Europcar’s initiatives to support the growth of EV rentals include having certified experts on these vehicles based at “selected” locations around the UK, producing a digital EV guide to help drivers find the best car for their journey, providing charging instructions support and cables, plus the option of CO2 reporting to show the reduction in emissions through hiring an EV.
