EXO’s Baekhyun Sets Up His Own Company In Entertainment Industry

Joining the trend of diversifying their portfolios, K-drama celebrities are making strategic business moves, and the latest to do so is EXO’s Baekhyun. According to a Ten Asia report, Baekhyun is now officially registered as the owner-CEO of his own company, with the internal directors’ registration finalised. Notably, the company was established on June 23, 2023, even before the renewal of Baekhyun’s contract with SM Entertainment in August. Interestingly, fellow EXO members Chen and Xiumin are also part of this new venture. In a recent interview, Baekhyun shared insights into his decision to secure a loan of approximately 13 billion KRW (approximately Rs 82 Crore).

The singer said, “It is impossible and incorrect to list with a loan. The reason for taking out a loan of 13 billion won as it was a promise to me. I am going to start my own company, but I took out a loan with the intention of not being negligent in running the business and always living with the burden.”

Meanwhile, Baekhyun’s current focus remains on I&B 100, as he has some unique vision and strategic plans for the company. As per the registered documents, the organisation is a multi-entertainment company with a various portfolio including production, business administration, investment and consultancy roles. This unique setup enables the singer, as a producer, to materialise any innovative ideas through the company.

Reports further suggest that Baekhyun has also hired fellow EXO members Chen and Xiumin for undisclosed roles in I&B 100. Interestingly, their current agency, SM Entertainment, has expressed no objections to their involvement. SM Entertainment issued a statement confirming the validity of contracts with Baekhyun, Chen and Xiumin, permitting them to engage in individual activities through I&B 100 while honouring their existing agreements as a group.

SM added, “The new exclusive contract with the three members is still in effect. We cannot reveal specific settlement conditions, but by the agreement with the company, we have allowed the three members to engage in individual activities.”

Earlier, Baekhyun worked as an executive director in an agency called One Signature, a collaboration with Kasper, a renowned choreographer and close friend. The K-pop idol emphasised that One Signature was created with the vision of promoting talented choreographers and dancers.
