Founder of Kru Sacramento named 2024 James Beard Awards finalist

Buu “Billy” Ngo, a founder of the restaurant Kru in Sacramento, has moved closer to winning a prestigious culinary award for best chef in California. The James Beard Foundation announced the finalists for its 2024 Restaurant and Chef Awards on Wednesday. Ngo is now one of five California finalists in his category. Ngo is now one of five California finalists in his category. The other contenders for best chef are:

  • Lord Maynard Llera with Kuya Lord in Los Angeles

Back in January, Ngo was one of 20 chefs named as semifinalists and the only one representing Sacramento.
