Geographic Expeditions Launches Female-Focused Expedition

For more than 40 years, Geographic Expeditions has helped craft itineraries that take travelers to all seven continents and all corners of the globe in an effort to connect travelers to the world around them. While all of its adventures are surely unique, its latest offering may be one of its best yet. 

In October, the company announced its first-ever womens-focused itinerary with a trip through Namibia. According to a statement provided to Travel + Leisure, the trip’s aim is to honor and celebrate the nation’s gender equality, which, according to the World Economic Forum, surpasses the U.S. and many nations in Europe, coming in eighth on its Global Gender Gap list.

“Our launch of this female-focused journey underscores our commitment to recognizing and celebrating the unique interests and perspectives of women travelers. It’s about creating a dedicated space for them to explore, connect, and break down cultural barriers,” Jenny Velasco, Geographic Expeditions’ head of product development, said. “We aim to provide an enriching experience that fosters unity and empowerment, where our guests engage in meaningful discussions, forge deep connections, and gain insights into the lives of Namibian women. It’s all about supporting women, inspiring learning, and creating lasting connections — all while exploring the little-known story of Africa’s most gender-egalitarian country.” 

Throughout the women-only group trip, travelers will participate in various adventures like safari drives, nature walks, and flights above the stunning landscapes along the Skeleton Coast. During the stops, travelers will have the opportunity to take part in conversations with local female artisans, entrepreneurs, and conservationists and meet with mothers at the Little Bugs Early Childhood Development Centre. Guests will also have the chance to track black rhinoceros with a female ranger from Save The Rhino Trust and meet the women behind the Penduka Development Trust.
