Helen Flanagan still has ‘love’ for ex-Celt Scott Sinclair over a year on from split

Former TV star Helen Flanagan has admitted she still has “love” for her ex Scott Sinclair, 16 months on from their break-up.

The Coronation Street star is currently preparing to launch her acting career back up, and explained how she has been “growing as a person” over the last year where she made “a lot of changes and some mistakes”. Helen shares three children with former Celtic winger Scott Sinclair, now with Bristol Rovers – Matilda, seven, Delilah, five, and Charlie, two, reports the Mirror.

The star is now back on the dating scene after she spent most of her 20s either “being pregnant or breastfeeding”. Now, she has detailed the pair’s co-parenting dynamic as she joins the dating scene for the first time in more than a decade.

Speaking to the Sun, Helen said: “I love Scott and I know that he loves me, but I suppose we just don’t like each other very much at the moment. We don’t really speak and there’s no point in pretending that we’re the best of friends when we’re not.

“What we had was really special, and because of that, the emotion between us is just too raw. Luckily, I get on really well with his mum and he speaks to my parents, so I’m sure Scott and I will eventually have a better relationship.”

Discussing their break-up, Helen said that it would be basically impossible to note the moment they were over, but said she “struggled” with her mental health after the birth of Charlie in 2021 – which put a “strain” on the pair.

“Scott is a good guy, but I felt he wasn’t very good with emotions,” she said. Helen continued: “We got used to doing our own thing. I had my own work and friends, and so did he.

“We just weren’t really together that much. Maybe I wasn’t the easiest person to live with – neither was he! – but there were a lot of factors that led to the end of the relationship. It wasn’t just one thing.”
