COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Julian Sayin, the top-ranked quarterback in the 2024 recruiting class, is transferring from Alabama to Ohio State. Sayin told ESPN about his decision Sunday. He had entered the transfer portal on Friday, becoming the 26th player and second signee to leave Alabama since coach Nick Saban announced his retirement earlier this month. Kalen DeBoer of Washington was hired to replace Saban. Also Sunday, another top QB recruit, Demond Williams Jr., announced he is following coach Jedd Fisch from Arizona to Washington, according to multiple reports.

Smith sank 9 of 17 shots with three 3-pointers and finished one rebound and one assist away from a triple-double for the Utes (14-5, 5-3 Pac-12 Conference). Utah snapped an 11-game losing streak to the Ducks (13-5, 5-2) and beat Oregon at home for the first time in nine tries. Jermaine Couisnard had 26 points to lead Oregon. BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Aaronette Vonleh hit a go-ahead layup with under a minute remaining as No. 3 Colorado took advantage of Trojans standout JuJu Watkins fouling out to escape with a 63-59 over No. 6 Southern California on Sunday. The Buffaloes finished 2-1 over a difficult stretch of playing three straight against top-10 opponents. They beat No. 8 Stanford last Sunday before losing to fifth-ranked UCLA on Friday night in front of a record crowd. This crowd was just as raucous, especially after Vonleh gave the Buffaloes a 58-56 lead. Quay Miller scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Watkins scored 20 points before fouling out for the Trojans.

The school announced Sunday before the third-ranked Colorado women’s team hosted No. 6 Southern California that Zimmer died Saturday. A moment of silence was held before the game. He called 486 football games at Colorado and 525 men’s basketball games. He also worked 536 preseason, regular season and postseason games with the Broncos, including four Super Bowls.
