The creator of Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima, has a new action espionage game in the pipeline. He revealed this exciting news during the State of Play stream today.
Kojima said this game is a brand-new IP that combines film and gaming elements.
“Of course, it is an interactive game,” Kojima said, “but it is also a movie at the same time.”
The game will be developed by Kojima Productions in collaboration with Sony, after they finish Death Stranding 2. It will be released on PlayStation 5. Kojima said he was “confident” this game “will be the culmination of my work”, adding: “we hope to transcend the barriers between film and video games.”

Kojima and Hermen Hulst, the head of PlayStation Studios, then left the stage, saying “stay tuned”. The camera zoomed out to show a Columbia Pictures sign with the word ‘Physint’ underneath it.
What is ‘Physint’?
Physint is the code name for Kojima Productions’ latest project, which the studio’s founder Kojima announced on Twitter. He described it as a “completely new ‘Action Espionage’ for the next-generation” that will combine “cutting-edge technology and the best talents from around the world, both from film and video games”. He added that it will be more than just a game, but a “next level of ‘Digital Entertainment’ that could be called a ‘movie’.”
The studio’s official X account also praised Physint’s “near life-like graphics” and said that it will have “the full support of SIE”. The tweet claimed that the game will “blur the boundaries between film and games, offering near life-like graphics and a new take on interactive entertainment.”
Kojima is no stranger to the espionage and stealth genre, having created the iconic Metal Gear series, which pioneered the stealth gameplay in video games.

Physint is not the only project that Kojima and his team are working on. They are also developing Death Stranding 2 and OD, a new IP in partnership with Xbox Game Studios, featuring actress Hunter Schafer and filmmaker Jordan Peele. Kojima is also involved in the film adaptation of the original Death Stranding by A24, but details are scarce.
The stream that revealed Physint also gave more information on Rise of the Ronin, Stellar Blade, and Death Stranding 2.
