Hilliker wins 8th Wed. Travel League event of the season | News, Sports, Jobs

NORTH EAST, Pa. — Josh Hilliker won his league-leading eighth Wednesday Travel League event of the season with the low round of 78 at Green Meadows Golf Course to highlight results from the Wednesday Travel League.

Pete Pinkoski, Jeff Nelson and Robert Calph tied for second place with 84s. Pinkoski posted both the low round and highest finish of his career. Hilliker led both the front nine (38) and back nine (40).

Mike Wolfe was the B Flight champion. In the C Flight, Pete Gawron won on a tiebreaker over Dan Kaszuba. Mick Dunning Sr. was the D Flight champion. Gawron became the 25th golfer in league history to go over 2,000 career points. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award was Lou Polichetti.

.Untied birdies were recorded by: A Flight, Ken Kaus (Nos.3, 11), Ed Tofil (No. 5), Nelson (No. 10), Kevin Jasinski (No. 16) and Pinkoski (No.17); B Flight, Dave Criscione (Nos. 2, 11), Don Kujawa (No. 3), Tom Destro (Nos. 5, 16, 18), Pat Weaver (No. 6), Tom Sacilowski (No. 7), John Waterman (No. 8) and Wolfe (No. 13); C Flight, Jim Ellman Sr. (No. 1), Kaszuba (Nos. 4, 18), Dennis Gawronski Sr. (Nos. 6, 10, 11) and Gawron (No. 14); D Flight, Dave Franklin (Nos. 1, 11), Phil Hopkins (Nos. 2, 14), Dunning (No. 3), Paul Olkowski (Nos. 5, 6), Polichetti (No. 9) and Tim Walawender (No. 13).

Closest to the pin were Kaus (No. 3), Sacilowski (No. 7), Wolfe (No. 13) and Destro (No. 16). Winners of the steeplechase were Nelson (A Flight), Kujawa (B), Gawron (C) and Dunning (D).

Top point winners were Destro (56), Kaus (52), Sacilowski (48), Dunning (44) and Kujawa (40). Season points leaders (through 19 events) are 1. Sacilowski (388), 2. Tofil (330), 3. Calph (307), 4.
