Hour-by-hour look at rain chances this weekend

Northern California forecast: Here’s an hour-by-hour look at rain chances this weekend

Many valley spots will likely stay dry on Saturday, with just a stray shower for others. Showers will be persistent throughout the day in the mountains.

Saturday will feature light, scattered showers in the valley, especially north of Sacramento. An area of steady rain developed over Butte and Sutter county Friday night and lingered into Saturday morning, producing up to an inch of rain in parts of that region. This rain will be fizzling out Saturday afternoon. Locations from Sacramento to Stockton could see a brief shower, but accumulations will be very light. Sierra spots will see a chance of rain all day Saturday. It will be a very chilly weekend for the mountains with highs in the 40s around Lake Tahoe. Sunshine returns to the Valley and lower Foothills on Sunday. A few showers will pop up in the Sierra, but there will be more dry time compared to Saturday.
