ASHFORD, CT (WFSB) – Interstate 84 eastbound in Ashford was closed on Thursday because of a crash that involved two tractor trailers.
State police said it happened in the area of the exit 72 entrance ramp.
The state Department of Transportation reported that the closure was between exits 72 and 73.
The I-84 exit 72 east ramp was also closed.
Serious injuries were reported. Troopers said at least one patient was transported to a hospital by ambulance.
“The involved tractor trailers have been reported to be submerged in the water,” state police said.
The state police dive team was requested, along with the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and the Department of Consumer Protection.
