Karisma Kapoor will be the guest judge on the upcoming episode of Indian Idol 14 and in a promo of the episode, the actor was seen getting visibly emotional as she remembered her grandfather Raj Kapoor. One of the contestants on the show, Mahima Bhattacharjee, dedicated her performance to Raj Kapoor and Karisma couldn’t hold back her tears.

In the promo, Mahima appeared on the stage dressed as a joker, inspired by Raj Kapoor’s character Raju from the film Mera Naam Joker and sang “Jeena Yahan, Marna Yahan”. Karisma emotionally said, “Ye gaane ke jo shabd hain (the lyrics of this song) is what we are.”


Karishma, who is the daughter of Randhir Kapoor, said that her family’s legacy exists because of Raj Kapoor. She said, “Jo bhi hum hain aaj (Whatever we are today) is thanks to this great man.” The judge of the show, singer Shreya Ghoshal also broke down in this emotional environment.

The promo video is receiving a lot of love on social media as the viewers have been writing sweet comments for Karisma’s appearance of the show. One person wrote, “Old is Gold 🥇,” another wrote, “Oh so emotional,” another person commended Mahima’s performance and wrote, “Outstanding MAHIMA🖤.”

Indian Idol, a singing reality show, has been running successfully for over nineteen years. The first season of the show started in 2004.
