Live updates as police swarm Smithdown Road after incident

Police have swarmed Brookdale Road off Smithdown Road following an incident.

Onlookers reported seeing fire engines, ambulance and police vehicles at the scene around 4:30pm.




The nature of the incident is currently unclear and the road remains open, despite the presence of emergency vehicles.

Full statement from Merseyside Fire

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service have released a full statement about the incident:

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service attended an incident at Brookdale Road, Liverpool on 4 March.

Crews were alerted at 4.32pm and on scene at 4.38pm. Two fire engines and the search and rescue team attended alongside North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) and Merseyside Police.

Crews arrived to find a garden wall measuring approximately 8 metres in height had collapsed.

It was determined upon arrival that no action was required by fire crews and the scene was handed over to Merseyside Police.

Crews left the scene at 5.09pm.

Merseyside Police released a full statement about the incident.

We were contacted at 4.35pm today, Monday 4th March, following reports a workman had been injured after a wall collapsed at the rear of a property in Brookdale Road, Wavertree.

Emergency services are currently at the scene and the man has been taken to hospital to be checked over. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A safety assessment is currently being carried out.

The fire service has confirmed that an eight foot garden wall has collapsed at a property on Brookdale Road.
