Police are appealing for information after a man with links to Wales absconded from prison. Avon and Somerset Police say that Matthew Read is wanted after absconding from Leyhill Prison in Gloucester. The 44-year-old is serving a prison sentence for drug offences.

Police say Read was last seen at the prison at about 5.05pm on Thursday, January 11. He was wearing blue jeans, black trainers, a blue hoodie with the number 63 encircled, and a black woolly hat. He is about 5ft 11in tall and has names tattooed on his arms. The force says that the prisoner has links to the South Wales area and particularly Aberdare.
