Lung Cancer Screening Event to be Held Across Delaware | Latest News

DELAWARE – The Delaware Department of Health and Social Services has announced a state-wide National Lung Cancer Screening Day event Saturday in a partnership between the American Cancer Society and numerous Delaware hospitals and imaging facilities.

According to the Department, members of the Bureau of Cancer Prevention and Control within the Department will be on-site at several imaging facilities for the event on Saturday, November 11th.

The event marks Delaware as the first state to have all health systems and major imaging centers in collaboration to encourage lung cancer screening and extend open hours for those who can’t get the screenings Monday through Friday, the Department says.

The event asks healthcare providers to open on the second Saturday in November to provide low-dose CT lung screenings.

“We are excited to help host Lung Cancer Screening Day and bring together the community to prioritize lung health,” said Cancer Prevention and Control Bureau Chief Dawn Hollinger. “By increasing awareness and providing access to screenings, we aim to save lives by detecting lung cancer at its earliest stages when treatment options are most effective.
