Gavin Guynes, director of technology for Madison County Schools, explained how the school district is handling the platform. “We have had conversations with staff members about using ChatGPT in the schools,” Guynes said. “Currently, our students do not have access on district devices, but teachers and staff do. And we’ve talked to them about using it appropriately in classrooms.”Erica Jones, president of the Mississippi Association of Educators, and a second grade teacher, said ChatGPT has pros and cons. “As an educator, there are going to be some positives to the app and some negatives,” Jones said. “I have already started engaging with educators across Mississippi to show them how we can use it in a positive way and highlight it for our students here.”Guynes said Madison County Schools are coming up with a program for teachers to detect the use of AI in homework and tests.
